China Introduces AI Computing “Vouchers” for its Startups

Chinese governments, including Shanghai, are providing "computing vouchers", valued at up to $280,000 to new AI startups. This initiative coincides with US sanctions on high-end AI chip sales to China. As a result of that, companies like Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance are limiting Nvidia GPU rentals. The vouchers aim to cut startup computing expenses by half at state-owned data centers.
