In compliance with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple is modifying iOS, Safari, and the App Store. It will allow non-Apple payment options, and alternative default web browsers. However, Apple acknowledges increased risks like malware and fraud, mitigated through notarization for sideloaded apps. Apple fellow Phil Schiller states that the adjustments will comply with the DMA’s EU requirements, while protecting EU users.
