LockBit Ransomware Threatens Boeing

What Happened

The Lockbit ransomware gang claims to have obtained a substantial amount of sensitive data from one of the world’s largest aerospace manufacturers and defense contractors, Boeing.

LockBit has threatened to publish this data if Boeing does not contact them by November 2nd. The group has yet to publish any samples, however they say:

For now we will not send lists or samples to protect the company BUT we will not keep it like that until the deadline.

Boeing has stated that they are currently assessing the claim made by the Lockbit ransomware gang. They have not given any further comments or reactions to the alleged data theft.

About LockBit

Lockbit is known for deploying ransomware on a victim organization’s system to lock it up and stealing sensitive data for extortion.

It was the most active ransomware group last year, according to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

Since its first appearance on Russian-language-based cybercrime forums in January 2020, the group has made 1,700 cyberattacks on U.S. organizations. The group has reportedly received about $91 million in ransoms paid by U.S. entities since its inception.

The group also alleged a hack on the technology services giant, CDW, in mid-October.
